How to date GOODENOUGH (the root label)
How do I authenticate vintage GOODENOUGH — and was there really a UK era?
The root label of Ura-Harajuku published no tag archaeology — provenance and construction carry everything, like fragment, its blood relation. The U.K. correction (a London boutique, NOT a production era), the diffusion-line map (RESONATE, IVY), the 1990–2017 era reality, and the 2025 Supreme collab's partner-first rule.
The tells — 5, sourced
- 01
No published tag archaeology exists for GOODENOUGH — no era guide, no code cipher; the 'G mark' lore is community-only. Provenance and construction carry the whole authentication, exactly like fragment (the house it shares blood with).
- 02
THE U.K. CORRECTION (seller-lore guard): 'GOODENOUGH U.K.' refers to a brief London BOUTIQUE presence (single-source, no year on record) — NOT a UK-production era. A seller claiming 'UK-made early GOODENOUGH' is asserting something no press source supports.
- 03
The line map (single-source dated — flag): RESONATE GOODENOUGH = 2004 diffusion; GOODENOUGH IVY = 2013 West-Coast prep; the UNDEFEATED capsule = 2016. None of these are the root object — don't pay root-label money for diffusion.
- 04
Era reality: founded 1990 (Hiroshi Fujiwara with SK8THING), officially over 2017 per Sabukaru. True early-90s GDEH is among the rarest paper on the Japanese auction circuit — a cheap 'OG' piece is almost certainly not one.
- 05
The 2025 Supreme × GOODENOUGH authenticates as a Supreme object (Supreme's own tag/print standards) with GDEH marks second — partner-first, the street-canon law.
Two sources or it ships as rumor. Where a tell is collector-lore rather than a museum fact, the tell says so — weight it with construction and provenance, never alone.
